How Pricing is Calculated

Pointing a Story

The size and complexity of a story (a unit of work) are estimated using points, rounded to the nearest quarter point. One point is approximately equivalent to one hour of hands-on keyboard time. For example, a task estimated to take two and a half hours to complete would be assigned 2.5 points.

Resource Rates

Each story is assigned a "level" based on the type of talent required for that work. The different levels are:

  • Admin
  • Engineer
  • Senior Engineer

Calculating the Cost

To calculate the cost of a story, multiply the points assigned to that story by the rate of the resource level assigned to the work.

Formula: Cost = Points x Rate

For example, if a story is estimated at 2 points and is assigned to an Engineer, the cost would be:

2 points x $150/hr = $300

Disagreement on Point Assignment

If there is a disagreement about the scope, size of work, or point assessment, the point assignment can be discussed and renegotiated. Open communication is encouraged to ensure fair pricing and accurate work estimates.

Cancellation Policy

Stories can be canceled at any time without any charge, provided that the work is not yet completed or used in any way after the cancellation. If a story is canceled after the work has begun but is not yet completed, there may be partial charges based on the work done up to the point of cancellation.

By adhering to this pricing model, we aim to maintain transparency and fairness in our billing and work assignment processes.
